Michael Giunta is from Florida where he worked as a freelance musician and percussion teacher at Steinbrenner High School. He has toured Florida as a percussionist and has also been involved in several jazz and rock groups playing drum set in Tampa and Orlando. In addition to playing drums and orchestral percussion, he also plays the piano. The past two summers, he was a fellow at the Brevard Music Center Institute and Festival. Just recently, he was also a fellow at the Cortona Sessions for New Music in Cortona, Italy where he won the Sessions’ first percussion solo competition. Michael received his Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance from the University of South Florida. He is currently a section percussionist with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, and pursuing his Masters in Music at Wichita State University where he is the Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Percussion area.
